VPP Router Overview of Router Functional Modules

To facilitate users’ functional modules configuration of the Router, the main functional modules that data passes through during the process from port reception to port transmission are now sorted out.

Note

• Since VPP is a node processing mechanism, some modules can be skipped without processing. For instance, if only the Layer 2 forwarding service is configured, after the data message passes through the L2 process, it can skip the intermediate L3 process/NAT/SPI/PBR and directly enter the L2 lookup.
• For data packets carrying tunnels, after Tunnel Termination, the outer Tunnel is stripped and the inner data packets are reprocessed.
